The Pittsburg Pirates are now 42-55 on the season following Friday night's frustrating 8-5 loss to the Angels. Despite hitting four home runs in the game, the most ever allowed in a single start by Angels' starter Shohei Ohtani, the Pirates fell for the sixth time in seven games and the tenth time in 12 games. After flirting with first place for the first few months of the season, the Pirates are now nestled in last place in the NL Central Division. Ji Man Choi and Jack Suwinski hit solo blasts while rookie Henry Davis became the first player ever to homer twice off Ohtani as part of his three-hit night. Despite the four home runs, the Pirates had just six hits in total while striking out ten times against Ohtani.

The Pirates will turn to righty Osvaldo Bido in game two of the series on Saturday night. Bido is 1-1 in seven appearances this season, including six starts. He has allowed 29 hits in 27 innings and has an ERA of 5.00. Bido's K/9 rate sits at 8.3 while his WHIP is 1.52. He has an inflated ERA of 8.10 in his last three starts, allowing 10 hits and nine runs in just ten innings. Bido has a 6.3 K/9 rate in those three starts and his WHIP jumps up to 1.70.

Key Injuries: 2B Ji Whan Bae and 3b Ke'Bryan Hayes are both out.
