The 2022-23 NHL season goes on with a nine-game Tuesday card and brings this interconference clash from the SAP Center in San Jose, California when the Pittsburgh Penguins take on the San Jose Sharks at 10:30 p.m. ET.

The Pittsburgh Penguins were shut out by the Los Angeles Kings on Saturday, 6-0. That snapped a two-game winning streak for the club, as they will play the third contest of a four-game road trip, traveling to New York to take on the Islanders on Friday after battling San Jose on Tuesday. The Penguins are 11-11-5 on the road.
Pittsburgh had no answers for the Los Angeles netminder in the loss, giving up two first-period goals, then three more in the second. Los Angeles scored twice on the power play, a bit of a surprise as the Penguins are 12th in the NHL in penalty killing (80.6%) the team is allowing 3.12 goals per game. Casey DeSmith started for Pittsburgh, giving up three goals on 15 shots before h is night was over. He has now given up at least three goals in three of his last four games and is 9-11-4 with a 3.30 GAA.

Pittsburgh is ranked 14th in goals per game (3.23) and 17th on the power play (22.0%). Evgeni Malkin has five assists and seven points over his last five games. Sidney Crosby leads the team with 62 points.
