The Penguins have a 19-11-6 record but with four losses in a row have fallen to the middle of the Metropolitan Division. The Bruins have a 28-4-4 record and with seven wins in their last 10 games have the best record in the Atlantic Division. Both teams are looking to start the new year strong and win the game at Fenway Park and the upcoming game looks to be a great one as a result.

The Penguins are having a promising season with their offense stepping up and scoring 3.33 goals per game. Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, and Jake Guentzel have scored 46 goals and 64 assists to lead the top two lines but the rest of the offense has also been great. Rickard Rakell, Bryan Rust, and Jason Zucker have combined for 30 goals and 39 assists while defensemen Kris Letang and Jeff Petry have added five goals and 23 assists from the point to open up the offense.

The offense has been great but the defense has struggled, allowing 3.03 goals per game with 18 goals in the last four games. Marcus Pettersson and Pierre-Olivier Joseph have combined for 3.5 defensive point shares but the rest of the unit has struggled, allowing opponents to find open shots on the net at will.
