The Pittsburgh Penguins and Chicago Blackhawks face off on Sunday in an NHL showdown at the United Center. When these two teams faced off on November 9th it was the Blackhawks that secured the 3-2 victory.
The Penguins headed into Saturday’s game against the Winnipeg Jets with a 7-7-3 record. On Thursday against the Minnesota Wild, the Penguins scored six goals and that was enough for a two-goal victory. Sidney Crosby had a big game finishing with two goals and two assists. The Penguins are averaging 3.47 goals per game while their defense is giving up 3.58 goals per game. The defense is an issue, but the offense is ranked 4th best in the NHL. On the season Sidney Crosby has scored nine goals and added 12 assists.
On the other side of this matchup is the Blackhawks who headed into Saturday’s game against the Boston Bruins with a 6-7-3 record overall. In the last game against the St. Louis Blues, the Blackhawks defense gave up five goals, and that led to the three goal defeat. The two Blackhawks goals were scored in the second quarter.The Blackhawks are averaging 2.5 goals per game while their defense is giving up 3.13 goals per game. On the season Patrick Kaine has scored two goals and added 11 assists.
