The Phoenix Suns (20-16, 19-17 ATS, 18-18 O/U) do battle with the Toronto Raptors (15-19, 17-17 ATS, 19-15 O/U) in an inter-conference showdown on Friday night. The Suns were pummeled in a road loss against the Wizards on Wednesday. The Raptors lost to the Clippers on Tuesday and host the Grizzlies on Thursday night. Each team earned one win in last year’s two meetings.

The Phoenix Suns resume a six-game road trip on Friday night. They are 1-2 through the opening three games of the trek. It began with an overtime loss in Denver, followed by a 125-108 win against the Grizzlies. Next, the Suns were marked as a narrow two-point favorite in a rough 127-102 loss to the Wizards on Wednesday night. The Suns have now dropped four out of their last five games. They have covered twice in that span.

The Suns continue to play without scoring leader Devin Booker (27.1 PPG) who will be out until the end of January. Deandre Ayton has been stellar, even in the recent losses. The 24-year-old center has scored at least 21 points in six out of his last ten games and is sporting an average of 18.1 PPG along with 9.7 RPG. He averaged 16 PPG and 8 RPG in two meetings against the Raptors last year. Mikal Bridges has been subpar recently, shooting below 41% in five consecutive games. The 26-year-old small forward scored 17 points on Wednesday and is averaging 15.6 PPG on the season. Chris Paul has reached the 20 points mark three times this month. The veteran point guard has filed an average of 12.7 PPG. Cameron Johnson is questionable.

The Suns are 2-3 in their last five road battles including a loss to the Rockets and a win against the Clippers. Phoenix has eclipsed 120 points in two out of their last three games but one of those went to overtime. They are scoring an average of 115.4 points on the year, landing them ninth. The Suns are conceding an average of 111.9 points, good for 10th in the NBA.
