Phoenix Suns vs. Los Angeles Clippers Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 12-15-2022

Phoenix Suns (16-12) vs. Los Angeles Clippers (16-13)

The NBA betting action continues Thursday, December 15, with the Pacific Division showdown from Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, California. The Suns and Clippers lock horns for the second time this season, and Phoenix beat LA 112-95 as a 1-point road fave on October 23.

Phoenix might be quite shorthanded Thursday. Cameron Johnson is still recovering from a knee injury, while Devin Booker (hamstring), Deandre Ayton (ankle), Cameron Payne (foot), and Duane Washington Jr. (hip) are all questionable to play. On the other side, the Clippers miss Norman Powell (groin).

The Phoenix Suns (16-12; 14-14 ATS) are on a five-game losing streak following a 111-97 defeat at the Houston Rockets this past Tuesday. Both Deandre Ayton and Cameron Payne exited due to injuries, while Devin Booker sat out his second straight game. The Suns trailed wire-to-wire, making only 32.0% of their field goals and 25.5% of their 3-pointers (13-for-51). Chris Paul had 16 points, seven assists, and six rebounds, while Mikal Bridges notched 18 points on a horrible 4-for-24 shooting from the field.

“I’m not worrying as long as the locker room stays positive and understands that it’s a long season,” Chris Paul said. “We went on an 18-game winning streak last season and lost in the second round. You know what I mean? In this league, you can’t get too high or too low.”

After surrendering 125 or more points in four straight outings, the Suns held the Rockets to 111 points. However, with Devin Booker on the sidelines, the Suns’ offense struggled to score against one of the worst teams in the league. Phoenix still owns the third-highest offensive rating in the NBA (116.6 points per 100 possessions) and ranks sixth in 3-point percentage (37.6%). The Suns surrender 112.4 points per 100 possessions (13th in the league) on 36.0% shooting from beyond the arc (tied-18th).
