It’s an interconference battle on the hardwood as a pair of teams trying to hang in the playoff picture take the floor in search of a win in Hotlanta. The Phoenix Suns are on the road as they travel to take on the Atlanta Hawks Friday night. Phoenix was in action on the road against Brooklyn Wednesday night, earning a 136-120 win to cover the line as a 3.5-point favorite in their previous game. Atlanta dropped the Lakers 138-122 at home in their previous contest Tuesday night, covering the line as a six-point favorite. In the all-time regular season series between the teams, the Suns own a 75-61 advantage but the Hawks have won the last three meetings, including a 116-107 home win in the most recent matchup on February 9, 2023.

Phoenix earned their second straight win as they took care of business against the Nets in their previous contest on the road. The Suns improved to 27-20 on the season and entered Thursday tied for second in the Pacific Division, putting them four games behind the Clippers for the top spot. They held the final guaranteed playoff spot in the Western Conference, one game ahead of the Pelicans, and stood 5.5 games ahead of the Rockets to remain in the playoff field. Against Brooklyn, Phoenix was even after the opening quarter and held a three-point edge at the half before breaking the game open. The Suns were even midway through the third quarter before going on a 24-6 run that put them up 99-81 with 2:24 to play in the stanza. They didn’t let the Nets closer than 10 after that en route to the victory. Phoenix shot a sizzling 62% from the field, including 14 of 28 from three-point range, and dominated the boards by a 42-27 margin. Kevin Durant paced the Suns with 33 points, five rebounds and eight assists in the win.

The Suns enter this contest 12th in the league in scoring offense as they average 116.8 points per game on the year. Phoenix stands 17th in rebounding with an average of 43.3 boards per contest while they are 15th by dishing out an average of 26.5 assists per contest. The Suns are 21st as they knock down an average of 11.9 three-pointers a night while the team is 7th as they splash 37.9% of their attempts from beyond the arc this season.

Damion Lee (knee) was injured during training camp and remains without a timetable for return as he works his way back. Bol Bol (foot) last played on January 11 and remains without a timetable to return to action. Allen (ankle) missed Wednesday’s game and is questionable for this contest.
