The Philadelphia Phillies look to stay on top in the NL when they face the Chicago Cubs on Tuesday, and we're offering our top Phillies vs. Cubs player props based on the best MLB odds.

The Philadelphia Phillies (55-29) hope to continue their impressive play against the Chicago Cubs (39-46) while being without Bryce Harper, an MLB MVP odds contender. The two teams are set for an 8:05 p.m. ET (TBS) opening pitch from Wrigley Field in Chicago on Tuesday.

Not only are the Phillies without Harper and Kyle Schwarber, they're also set to start a rookie pitcher against the Cubs. The question is whether or not they can stay atop the World Series odds until their two sluggers return.

Here are our best Phillies vs. Cubs player props and MLB picks.

Phillies vs. Cubs expert picks

While Harper was one of the top NL MVP candidates, Bohm has kept his name in the conversation, too. The 27-year-old is putting together his best season in the majors and should be making his first All-Star appearance.

He leads Philadelphia in hits (95), doubles (28), and RBIs (68), and he's second on the team in total bases (155), behind o nly Harper. In June, Bohm averaged two total bases per game with 11 extra-base hits in 25 outings, and that hot play should continue against Cubs starter Hayden Wesneski.

Wesneski leans heavily on his sweeper (40.5%), and four-seamer (37.6%), and Bohm has been smoking both this season. He has a .370 average and .519 SLG against sweepers and a .352 average and .549 SLG against four-seamers. These odds imply a 47.62% win probability, with a $10 bet paying an $11 profit.

One of the biggest reasons the Phillies will need Bohm to hit a bomb is because they're set to start Mercado. The 25-year-old rookie is one of Philadelphia's top prospects, but he's only pitched one inning in the majors thus far.

He pitched a shutout eighth inning in his debut on June 24, and he can ride that momentum into his first start. In AAA with the Lehigh Valley IronPigs this season, Mercado averaged 8.4 SO/9, and I expect him to get to at least four in his first start.

The Cubs strikeout the sixth-most in the MLB (760) and have the eighth-highest strikeout rate (23.9%). That should set Mercado up well to showcase his four-seamer and curveball in his debut. While these odds only pay a $6.21 profit on a $10 bet, they imply a 61.69% probability this prop hits.

Best odds: -161 via Betway

Despite the fact that I expect Mercado to be service able enough in his first start to hit at least four strikeouts, I still believe he'll have his welcome to the majors moment against the Cubs.

Even though the Cubs swing and miss more often than the Bears draft quarterbacks in the first round, when they do connect, it can be as thunderous as a Michael Jordan dunk. No Chicago bat epitomizes this style more than Ian Happ, who's coming off a June in which he had a .500 SLG and 12 extra-base hits.

It may be a small sample size, but Mercado loves to go to his four-seamer (53.3%) and that's a pitch Happ is rocking this season. He's putting up a .287 average with a .542 xSLG. These odds may only imply a 43.48% win probability, they pay a $13 profit on a $10 bet.

Best odds: +130 via Betway
