It’s the continuation of the National League Championship Series as the remaining pair of teams do battle in the Valley of the Sun. The Philadelphia Phillies are on the road as they make the trip west to take on the Arizona Diamondbacks in Game 4 Friday night. Philadelphia took care of business in the first two games of the series at home, winning the opener 5-3 on Monday night before following up with a lopsided 10-0 triumph in Game 2 Tuesday night to take a 2-0 series lead. Will the Diamondbacks regroup at home or will the Phillies take another step toward clinching their second straight National League pennant? This article was published prior to the conclusion of Game 3 of the series at Chase Field Thursday afternoon.

Philadelphia took care of business at home as they took the first two games of this series to put themselves in command in pursuit of their second consecutive NL pennant. The Phillies look to keep their momentum on the road as they head west for this matchup. On Tuesday night, Philadelphia got two hits each from Kyle Schwarber (three runs, two RBI), Bryson Stott (two runs) and J.T. Realmuto (run, three RBI) in the win. Schwarber (his second and third) homered twice in the game while Trea Turner (his third) also went deep in the victory. Aaron Nola (3-0) earned the win on the mound as he threw six scoreless innings, allowing three hits with no walks and seven strikeouts, before departing.

The Phillies have not officially named a starter for this one but expectations are that Taijuan Walker would make his postseason debut here after 31 regular season starts. He was 15-6 with a 4.38 ERA, a 1.309 WHIP, 71 walks and 138 strikeouts over 172.2 innings of work during the regular season. Walker took the loss in his last start, which came in the first game of a doubleheader against the Mets on September 30. He threw seven innings, allowing four runs on four hits with four walks and three strikeouts in a game the Phillies dropped 4-3. In his last three starts, Walker is 0-1 with a 4.95 ERA, a 1.15 WHIP, six walks and 10 strikeouts over 20 innings of work. Walker pitches against the Diamondbacks in the postseason for the first time here. It also marks his first career postseason start at Chase Field. In his career, Walker has made one postseason start, taking the loss as he allowed four runs on four hits with two walks and three strikeouts in one inning of work as the Diamondbacks fell 9-5 to the Dodgers in Game 1 of the NL Division Series back on October 6, 2017.
