Philadelphia was beaten 4-3 at home by this same Seattle squad in their previous game Sunday afternoon. Seattle fell 3-2 in a shootout at the hands of Winnipeg on the road Tuesday night in their most recent game. In the all-time series between the teams, the Flyers have taken two of the three previous meetings though the Kraken did earn a 4-3 road win on February 12 in the lone meeting this season.

The Flyers entered Wednesday night seventh in the Metropolitan Division with a 22-23-10 record, leaving them 24 points behind the Hurricanes for the division lead. They were 16 points back of the Rangers for the final guaranteed playoff spot and eight points back of Washington for the second wild-card spot. Philadelphia comes into this game 27th in the league in scoring offense as they put up 2.69 goals per game. The Flyers are tied for 17th in the league in goals against as they give up 3.09 goals per contest. Philadelphia is tied for 30th in power play success as they successfully convert on 16% of their opportunities with the man advantage. The Flyers are 19th in penalty killing as they have managed to navigate through 77.4% of their shorthanded situatio ns on the year.

Against Seattle, Philadelphia battled but still ended up falling short for their sixth loss in the last eight games. The Flyers were outshot 11-4 in the opening period of play and went to the dressing room trailing 2-1 at the first intermission. Owen Tippett opened the scoring and gave the Flyers a 1-0 lead with his 15th goal of the season, on the power play, at 2:15 off assists from Rasmus Ristolainen and Scott Laughton. The Flyers gave up two unanswered goals later in the stanza to trail at the first intermission. In the second period, Philadelphia was outshot 7-6 with both teams scoring once, leaving them down 3-2 after 40 minutes of play. James van Riemsdyk tied the game for the Flyers with his ninth goal of the season at 3:35 off assists from Tippett and Morgan Frost. They allowed the go-ahead goal later in the period. The third period saw the Flyers hold an 8-3 shot edge with each team scoring once, leaving P hiladelphia on the wrong end of the scoreboard as time expired. After Seattle extended to a 4-2 lead, Patrick Brown narrowed the margin to a goal with a shorthanded marker, his second of the season, at 16:40 off assists from Ivan Provorov and Ristolainen. That was as close as the Flyers would get as they were unable to get the equalizer. Felix Sandstrom made 17 saves for the Flyers, who were outshot 21-18, in the loss. Carter Hart is expected to get the start in goal for this contest.
