The Philadelphia Flyers face the Ottawa Senators with both teams looking to make a mark in the Eastern Conference early in the season. The Flyers had the second-worst record in the Metropolitan Division last season but are off to a hot start after they beat the Columbus Blue Jackets 4-2 in their first game of the season. The Senators entered this season with high hopes but are looking to bounce back after a 5-3 loss in their opening game. The Flyers look to start strong in the Metropolitan Divison while the Senators look to improve in the Atlantic Division and the upcoming game looks to be a great one.

The Flyers had an awful offense last season, scoring only 2.68 goals per game but in their first game of the season, they made a statement with four goals. Travis Konecny and Scott Laughton scored two goals and two assists to lead the top line but the rest of the offense stepped up as well. Joel Farabee, Cam Atkinson, and Sean Couturier combined for two goals and one assist while defensemen Travis Sanheim and Yegor Zamula added two assists from the point to help open up the offense.
Along with hoping the offense turns a corner, the Flyers, who allowed only two goals in their first game, hope the defense improves after allowing 3.37 goals per game last season. Travis Sanheim and Cam York led the top pairing with three blocked shots but the hope is that the rest of the unit can step up with Marc Staal and Sean Walker, two offseason additions, playing a big role in the defense. In addition, goaltender Carter Hart looks to build off a game where he saved 31 of the 33 shots he faced.
