Philadelphia Flyers vs. New Jersey Devils Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 12-15-2022

The Philadelphia Flyers (9-14-6-1, 17-13 PL, 12-16 O/U) meet with the New Jersey Devils (21-6-2, 18-11 PL, 12-15 O/U) in a divisional showdown on Thursday night. The Flyers were charged with a road loss by the Avalanche on Tuesday. The Devils lost a home decision to the Stars in their previous clash. The season series is even at 1-1.

The Philadelphia Flyers conclude a four-game road trek in this one. They stand at 0-2-1 through the opening three games of the trip. They lost to Vegas in OT, followed by another OT loss, this time against the Coyotes, and were competitive in a 3-2 road defeat against the Avalanche on Tuesday night. The Flyers are in a rebuild but have not been an easy win for opponents.

Kevin Hayes is the Flyers' point leader. The 30-year-old center has been kept in check in his last few games but has been fairly consistent, netting nine goals along with 19 assists. Hayes has been effective against the Devils, collecting three points in the two meetings. Travis Konecny has logged a solid four goals along with one helper this month. The 25-year-old winger has accrued 25 points on the season but is a minus 13. He has netted three goals against NJ this season. Scott Laughton is having a disappointing season. The former 1st round pick has three points this month and has only recorded 10 points in 25 games on the season. Cam Atkinson has yet to play this season but is nearing his return.

The Flyers will have Carter Hart between the pipes after Sandstrom was in goal on Tuesday. Hart was among the goalie leaders earlier this season but has been giving up an increase in goals recently and enters with a 2.84 GAA and a .909 save % to go with an 8-8-6 record. The Flyers are scoring an average of 2.4 goals, pegging them 30th. They are conceding an average of 3.3 goals, positioning them 21st in the league.
