Philadelphia Flyers vs. Detroit Red Wings Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 1-21-2023

Once Upon A Time In Las Vegas – Divisional Round

The Philadelphia Flyers face the Detroit Red Wings with both teams looking to improve from rocky seasons. The Flyers have a 19-20-7 record and are near the bottom of the Metropolitan Division but have won seven of their last 10 games while the Red Wings have a 19-17-8 record and are in the middle of the Atlantic Division. Both teams look to improve within their divisions and the Eastern Conference and the upcoming game looks to be a great one as a result.

The Flyers are having a difficult season with their offense struggling and scoring only 2.78 goals per game. Travis Konecny, Kevin Hayes, and Scott Laughton have scored 48 goals and 67 assists to lead the top two lines but the rest of the offense has struggled. The hope is that James van Riemsdyk and Noah Cates can step up as they play a pivotal role in the forward unit but have only added 12 goals and 24 assists on the season thus far.

The offense has struggled but the defense has let the Flyers down, allowing 3.22 goals per game with 12 goals in the last three games. Travis Sanheim and Nick Seeler have combined for 3.5 defensive point shares but the rest of the unit has struggled, allowing opponents to find open shots on the net at will. In addition, goaltender Carter Hart has struggled with a .907 save percentage and a 3.00 goals-against average on 1011 shots.
