Dallas picked up a 3-2 road win over Anaheim in their most recent contest Thursday night. Philadelphia took their second straight win as they shut down the high-powered Oilers at home Thursday night. The Flyers entered Friday 3-1-0 on the season and were tied with Carolina for the top spot in the Metropolitan Division. Philadelphia comes into this game tied for 16th in the league in scoring offense as they put up an average of three goals per game. The Flyers are tied for 6th in the league in goals against as they give up two goals per contest. Philadelphia is 28th in power play success as they successfully convert on 5.9% of their opportunities with the man advantage. The Flyers are tied for 16th in penalty killing as they have managed to navigate through 78.6% of their shorthanded situations on the year.

Against the Oilers, Philadelphia played solid defensive zone hockey and used timely offense to derail Edmonton’s attempts to win the game. Atkinson scored his second goal of the game and third of the season at 4:17 off assists from Tippett and Couturier. Carter Hart made 22 saves for the Flyers, who outshot the Oilers 32-23, in the victory. Samuel Ersson is expected to b e in net for the Flyers for this contest.
