Philadelphia had their issues but managed to make the critical plays down the stretch to beat Brooklyn on the road in Game 3. The 76ers have now taken a 3-0 stranglehold in the series and have an opportunity to punch their ticket to the second round with a win here. Against Brooklyn Thursday night, Philadelphia led by four after the opening quarter and by 11 at the half only to get outscored 35-18 in the third quarter to trail by six. The 76ers were still down five with 2:15 to play before outscoring the Nets 11-1 the rest of the way. Philadelphia took the lead on a Tyrese Maxey three-pointer with 44.1 seconds to play. Leading by two, Joel Embiid recorded a block that prevented the Nets from tying the game, and with a three-point lead with eight seconds to play, DeAnthony Melton recorded a steal and dunk to seal the game. Philadelphia shot 48.8% from the field, including 13 of 31 from three-point range, and won the rebounding battle 46-34. Maxey led the 76ers with 25 points while James Harden had 21 before getting ejected for a flagrant 2 late in the third quarter.
