The Philadelphia 76ers invade the Capital One Arena to take on the Washington Wizards on Monday night.
The Philadelphia 76ers are finally starting to build some momentum with three wins in their last four games and they will be aiming for a third straight win after sneaking past the Bulls in a 114-109 road win on Saturday. Joel Embiid led the way with 25 points, seven rebounds and four assists, James Harden tallied 15 points with 11 assists while Tyrese Maxey chipped in with 14 points. As a team, the 76ers shot 49 percent from the field and 14 of 29 from the 3-point line as they hit the ground running and set the tone with 37 points in the first quarter to build a 19-point lead, but they couldn’t hold onto the lead and had to close the final 3:16 on a 9-2 run to escape with the solid win.
Meanwhile, the Washington Wizards have been in a bit of a rut as they’ve lost three of their past four games and they will be hoping to avoid a third straight defeat after getting routed by the Celtics in a 112-94 road loss last night. Kristaps Porzingis led the team in scoring with 17 points, 13 rebounds and two blocks, Rui Hachimura added 13 points, nine rebounds and three assists off the bench while Bradley Beal finished with just 12 points and eight assists. As a team, the Wizards shot just 38 percent from the field and seven of 32 from the 3-point line, but they got off to an ice-cold start and were always fighting a losing battle after getting outscored by 34-15 in the first quarter. Beal had a night to forget as he shot just four of 16 from the field while Kyle Kuzma finished with just nine points on three of 13 shooting.
