Although Phil Mickelson has yet to win the U.S. Open, he's come awfully close in the past. He's finished as the runner-up six times with the most recent instance happening in 2013. Unfortunately, Mickelson hasn't even cracked the top 25 since then, finishing T52 or worse in each of his last seven entries. More 2023 U.S. Open coverage on The Duel:'
Mickelson has spent the 2023 season with LIV Golf's HyFlyers GC. The results haven't exactly been the re, though, having finished 27th or worse in five of seven events. He did show up to the first two major tournaments of the year, though, placing T2 and T58 at the Masters and PGA Championship, respectively. I'm going to take a safe approach to a bet here by recommending to back Phil Mickelson making the cut at +122 odds. Predicting a finish position is risky, especially with how volatile he's recently been at the U.S. Open. Nevertheless, he's made the cut at both major events so far this season, so I expect him to at least do it again, regardless of where he falls.
