The Purdue-Fort Wayne Mastadons will head to Ann Arbor and take on the Michigan Wolverines from the Crisler Center this Monday on the Big Ten Network.
Purdue-Fort Wayne went 21-12 (15-6) last season, and won the Horizon League regular season title. The Mastadons failed to win their conference tournament, leading to a CBI appearance and a 22-point loss to Drake. then lost to Abilene Christian in the CBI to end their season. Jon Coffman will enter his ninth season in charge, and he’s posted a 138-112 record through his first eight seasons in Fort Wayne.
The Mastodons scored 73.5 points per game last season, and they will bring back a trio of senior guards in Jarred Godfrey, Deonte Billups, and Damian Chong Qui. Godfrey has led PFW in scoring for three years in a row, and posting a well-rounded line of 15.2 ppg, 4.6 rpg, and 3.8 apg, he’s definitely going to have an effect on this game. Ra Kpedi’s return up front will be huge, but he may have his hands full with big Hunter in this one.
