Non-conference basketball continues through the Holiday Season with a matchup between the Penn Quakers (7-5, 4-6 ATS) and the Rider Broncs (3-8, 3-7 ATS) on Saturday afternoon. Penn just won a home game over Howard, defeating the Bison 78-68 and covering the 5.5-point spread. Rider is coming off a big road win in overtime over Delaware 88-85, winning outright as 8.5-point dogs. These teams did not meet last season. Tipoff is scheduled for 1:00 EST from Alumni Gymnasium in Lawrenceville, New Jersey.

The Penn Quakers are set to hit the road for a short trip to New Jersey to take on the Rider Broncs. Penn has played three road games so far this season, and they have lost and failed to cover in all three. Penn lost road games at St. Joseph's and Kentucky, but their worst loss was on the road against Maryland-Eastern Shore, where they lost outright as 10-point favorites. They got back to winning last game, by defeating Howard by ten, as they were led by Clark Slajchert with 20 points.

Slajchert is a 6'1 point guard leading the team in scoring with 19.2 PPG and adds 3.4 APG. He is the top shooter on the team with 34 made threes on the season and is connecting on a red hot 45.9% from deep. Penn lives and dies by the three, their top three scorer have all made over 20 threes this season. Slajchert has had 17 or more in his past four games, including a 33 point game against LaSalle. The next tw o scorers on the team are both freshman, the better of the two is Tyler Perkins, he is a 6'4 guard contributing 15.4 PPG, 6.3 RPG, and 2.2 APG. Sam Brown is the other freshman, he is 6'3 and adds another 11.8 PPG and 3.3 RPG. Nick Spinoso is their most productive post player, the 6'9 junior adds 9.4 PPG and 7.2 RPG.

Penn is currently ranked 184th in the nation according to KenPom. They are much stronger offensively, where they rank 111th in the country in efficiency, while their defense ranks way back in 287th. Penn plays very slow offensively, their tempo ranks 310th in the nation based on their pace of play. They have not played a very difficult non-conference schedule, it is ranked as the 288th most difficult.
