Despite returning four starters from last year's team, it has been rough start for Penn head coach Steve Donoghue and his team. The Quakers have started the season at 0-3 and look to be off to the same out of league start they had in 2021-22. Last season, entering league play, Penn was just 3-10. The Quakers were blown out in their opener by Iona, 78-50, and have lost each of their last two as well. On Sunday, Penn lost its home opener to Towson, 80-74. Trailing by 10 points at halftime, Penn was never able to fully climb back in the game and lost their third-straight game to start the season. Jordan Dingle led the way with 24 points, more impressive by the fact that he was held scoreless in the first half. Clark Slajchert chipped in with 21 points, his second-straight game scoring 21 points. The Quakers shot 46% from the field and hit 33% of their 3pt shots. They were out-rebounded 36-30 and committed 13 turnovers compared with 11 for Towson.

The Quakers have a point differential of -41 through their first three games, all losses. Penn is shooting the ball 43% overall and just 33% from 3pt range. They have really struggled out of the gates, scoring just 88 points total in the first half of each of their first three games. While the opposition is shooting just 43% overall, Penn has allowed their first three opponents to average nearly 40% shooting from long range. Penn has been extremely shaky in the turnover department, with a -25 turnover differential this season. Dingle leads the way, averaging nearly 20 points per game.
