Penn State at Purdue – 9/1/22 College Football Picks and Prediction

The Penn State Nittany Lions will play the Purdue Boilermakers in a Big Ten Game on Thursday night at Ross-Ade Stadium.

The Penn State Nittany Lions were 7-6 last season and lost to Arkansas in the Outback Bowl by a score of 24-10. Penn State started 2021 with a 5-0 record, but lost six out of their last eight games. Sean Clifford is back under center for Penn State this year, but he lost a lot of his weapons from last year. The offense last year was nothing special and failed them in the most important parts of their season. Defensively, Penn State was decent last year and should be solid again this season. Penn State has recruited well and has welcomed in some transfers, so it will be interesting to see how they put the pieces together.

The Purdue Boilermakers were 9-4 last year and won the Music City Bowl against Tennessee by a score of 48-45. Purdue was very strong last season, losing only to Notre Dame, Wisconsin, Ohio State, and Minnesota. This year, Purdue returns quarterback Aidan O’Connell and should have one of the best passing attacks in the country. On the flip side, Purdue’s rushing attack last year was not good and may not be much better this season. Defensively, Purdue returns quite a few starters from a unit that was pretty average last year. Purdue has some good pieces and I think they are going to contend in the Big Ten West Division.
