Penn State at Illinois Prediction – Basketball Picks 3/9/23

The Penn State Nittany Lions and the Illinois Fighting Illini will meet in Chicago to battle in the second round of the Big Ten Tournament at the United Center on the BTN.

Penn State moved to 19-12 following a home win over Maryland. The Nittany Lions trailed the Terps by double figures at the break, but they rallied all the way back to steal the win by one-point, 65-64. Penn State is scoring 72.4 points per game, while allowing 67.4 ppg, and shooting 46.3% from the field.

Penn State won five of their last six games, and they’ll look to beat Illinois for the third time this season. Penn State plays through the veteran trio of Jalen Pickett, Seth Lundy, and Andrew Funk. Pickett went off for a career-high 41 points in the home win over Illinois last month, and he’s posting a strong line of 18.0 ppg, 7.3 rpg, and 7.0 apg. Lundy leads  the team in rebounding (6.1), while scoring 14.0 ppg. Funk hit four threes in each of the last two games, and he’s third on the team at 12.0 ppg.
