  • San Diego is 5-0 straight up (SU) in its last five games against the American League.
  • Toronto is 5-0 SU in its last five games against the NL West.

  • The total has hit the Over in each of Toronto's last five home games against San Diego.

Padres vs Blue Jays Prediction & Pick

The odds are likely in the Padres' favor due to tonight's pitching matchup. San Diego is going with Joe Musgrove, who's been excellent throughout the 2023 campaign, going 8-2 with a 3.29 ERA in 14 starts. He's been even tougher to beat lately, playing to a 1.69 ERA with 32 strikeouts in his last five starts.

Meanwhile, the Blue Jays are turning to Alek Manoah. Although the 2022 AL Cy Young finalist struggled until he was sent to the minors in June, he looked strong in his MLB return last week. Manoah pitched six innings in a 12-2 win over the Detroit Tigers, striking out seven batters whil e allowing just one earned run on five hits.

Even with the odds on their side, I can't trust the Padres. Not only have they surrendered an average of 7.3 runs during their three-game skid, but they're also just 3-12 SU in their previous 15 road games. That's not exactly promising considering that the Blue Jays have won their last three home games 19-9 on aggregate.

The Blue Jays aren't slowing down anytime soon and I expect them to have some solid success against the struggling Padres.

Final Score Prediction:'Blue Jays: 4 | Padres: 3

Padres vs Blue Jays Best Bet

Bo Bichette is becoming one of the best shortstops in baseball and his play at Rogers Centre helps. He's batting .319 with 15 hits, two homers, and six RBIs in his last 11 home games, averaging 2.3 bases per outing. It certainly helps that he has six extra-base hits during that span.

With a whopping 14 total bases in his last five home outings, asking for Bichette to record at least two tonight isn't a big ask. The Blue Jays are on a roll, so look for the 25-year-old SS to have another multi-base game.
