Ottawa Senators vs. Montreal Canadiens Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 2-25-2023

The Ottawa Senators face the Montreal Canadiens with both teams looking to improve on rough seasons. The Senators have a 27-25-4 record and have the second-worst record in the Atlantic Division while the Canadiens have a 24-29-4 record and are in last place in the division. Both teams look to rebound in the division and improve ahead of the trade deadline and the upcoming game looks to be a good one.

The Senators are having a rough season despite their offense stepping up and scoring 3.04 goals per game. Brady Tkachuk, Tim Stützle, and Claude Giroux have scored 73 goals and 99 assists to lead the top two lines but the rest of the offense has also stepped up. Alex DeBrincat, Drake Batherson, and Shane Pinto have combined for 50 goals and 70 assists while defenseman Thomas Chabot has added eight goals and 23 assists from the point to open up the offense.

The offense has been great but the defense has let them down, allowing 3.20 goals per game. Thomas Chabot and Travis Hamonic have combined for 4.6 defensive point shares and 197 blocked shots but the rest of the unit has struggled, allowing opponents to find open shots on the net at will. The hope is that Mads Sogaard can continue to play well in the net as he has a .913 save percentage and a 2.85 goals-against average on 104 shots.
