Oregon Ducks (0-0) vs. Georgia Bulldogs (0-0)
The college football season is finally underway, and there is a great battle in Atlanta, Georgia on Saturday when the Pac-12’s Oregon Ducks take on the SEC’s Georgia Bulldogs. Georgia enters this contest as a decisive favorite (-17.0, which is not surprising considering that the Bulldogs are expected to compete for the national championship again this season.
Oregon finished 10-4 last season, ranked No. 22 in the country. The Ducks were 7-0 at home, but went just 3-2 on the road. Georgia finished the season 14-1, beating Alabama in the title game, 33-18. This is a club that is still expected to put up another title run under head coach Kirby Smart. The total is set at 53.0 for this game.
The Ducks traveling across the country to take on the defending national champions in their home state? This contest has blowout written all over it. However, don’t sleep on Oregon. Consider that the Ducks traveled to heavily favored Columbus last year to take on No. 3 Ohio State in what was expected to be a blowout for the Buckeyes, but Oregon came away with a 35-28 victory.

The Ducks are decisive underdogs, but they have the offensive line to give Georgia everything they can handle. In fact, many football analysts believe that this is the best front five that the Bulldogs will face all year. Four of these linemen are expected to be NFL draft picks. The defensive line is very good as well, and should be able to hold their own to slow down, if not shut down this Bulldogs rushing attack.
If there is one coach out there who knows how to shut down Georgia, it should be new Oregon head coach Dan Lanning. He spent the last three seasons as the defensive coordinator and linebackers coach for Georgia, building the No. 1 defense in the country. He is waiting until Saturday to reveal who his starting quarterback will be, but do not be surprised if it is senior Bo Nix, who transferred from Auburn. That should give Oregon another advantage, as the senior is well acquainted with Georgia.
