The Oral Roberts Golden Eagles and the Houston Cougars will face off in The Cougar Classic from the Fertitta Center this Monday evening. on ESPN+. This will mark the first time these two schools cross paths.
Oral Roberts split their first two games of the season last week. The Golden Eagles were overpowered by Saint Mary’s in their season opener, but they bounced back with a victory over John Brown last Friday. ORU rallied in the second half to cover the spread against the Gaels, and they blew out JBC in a battle of Golden Eagles. Max Armas is off to another strong start for Oral Roberts. The leader of the ORU’s Sweet 16 run has been very active, averaging 16 ppg, 8 rpg, and 4 apg early. His running mate Isaac McBride was efficient in the win over JBC with 19 points on 8/12 shooting. 7 '3 center Connor Vanover matched his team-lead with 19 points on an identical 8/12 clip.
