Ole Miss at Mississippi State – 1/7/23 College Basketball Picks and Prediction

The Ole Miss Rebels and Mississippi State Bulldogs face off on Saturday in a college basketball showdown at Humphrey Coliseum. When these two teams faced off last January it was Mississippi State that secured the 78-60 victory.

Ole Miss comes into this game with an 8-6 record overall and they have gone 5-7-2 against the spread. In the last game against Alabama, they really struggled giving up 84 points, and they lost by 22 points. Jaemyn Brakefield finished with 14 points and nine rebounds. Ole Miss is averaging 68.6 points while their defense is giving up 64.9 points per game. The defense is ranked 77th in the league. Matthew Murrell is averaging 14.4 points while shooting 38 percent from the field and 29.5 percent from behind the three point line.

On the other side of this matchup is Mississippi State who sits with an 11-3 record and they have gone 5-8-1 against the spread. After such a strong start to the season, they have lost three games in a row. In the last game against Tennessee, the offense only managed 53 points and they ended up losing in blowout fashion. The Bulldogs are averaging 67.1 points while their defense is giving up 56.9 points per game. The defense is 6th best in college basketball, but they need to be better than last game. This is a huge game because even after the fast start, this could turn into a very long losing streak if they were to be defeated in this game.
