Oklahoma vs. Nebraska Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 9-17-2022

This Saturday the (2-0) Oklahoma Sooners and the (1-2) Nebraska Cornhuskers will face-off in the third week of the 2022 college football season. Kick-off will be at noon EST inside Memorial Stadium (Lincoln, NE). Nebraska just fired their head coach, Scott Frost. They will be looking for a fresh start in this game.

The Oklahoma Sooners are coming into this one after destroying Kent State, 33-3. The Sooners looked great on both sides of the ball as they were consistently making big plays on offense and defense. They will be looking to keep this perfect season alive in this one.

The Nebraska Cornhuskers fell to Georgia Southern in week 2, as Scott Frost was fired after that loss. Mickey Joseph will now be stepping in as the head coach, as Nebraska will be looking to turn this season around.

The Oklahoma Sooners have now jumped out to a (2-0) start after talking down Kent St. and UTEP. They will now focus on the Cornhuskers, as Oklahoma has been tough to stop on the offensive side of the field this season. They are currently scoring 39 points per game, as they are getting the job done on the ground and through the air. According to ESPN.com, Oklahoma is averaging 264.5 passing yards per game, as Dillon Gabriel has looked great in 2022. Last week, he threw for 296 yards and three touchdowns, as he had it rolling. The Sooners also showed that they could move the ball on the ground, as they are running for 196.5 yards per game over the first two weeks. Watch for Eric Gray out of the backfield, as he has already recorded 26 carries for 173 yards this season. They have multiple stars on this offense and Brent Venables has kept this team together after losing their head coach after the 2021 season. As an offense, the Sooners are aver aging 370 total yards per game, as their offense has been clicking to begin this new season. I would also watch for Marvin Mims, as the Junior wide receiver has been torching his opponents' secondaries over the past two weeks. He has already recorded 10 receptions for 244 yards and two touchdowns.

On defense, Oklahoma has also looked elite. They completely shut down Kent St. last week, as they only allowed three points and 295 total yards. They made it very difficult for them to move the ball through the air, as they only surrendered 131 passing yards. They also recorded an interception and a fumble recovery, as they showed that they could create turnovers. This season, the Sooners are allowing 8 points per game and they are only giving up an average of 305 total yards per game. They are making it tough for their opponents to move the ball, which makes it much more difficult to score. Oklahoma has been very good against the run, as well. They are giving up 96 rushing yards per game, as the front seven have shown that they can rally to the ball and stop the run. They're also only allowing 209.5 passing yards per game, as their secondary has also been solid in the first few weeks of the season.
