Oklahoma State will try to snap its two-game losing streak when it travels to West Virginia on Monday night. The Cowboys had won five straight games prior to those two setbacks, but they have now fallen back to the .500 mark in conference play. West Virginia has lost three straight games and continues to fall to the bottom of the Big 12 standings.
Oklahoma State got off to a mediocre start this season, going 9-8 through its first 17 games. The Cowboys were able to turn things around for a good portion of Big 12 play, winning seven of their next eight contests. Their lone loss during that stretch came on the road against then-No. 10 Texas near the end of January. They have not been able to maintain their momentum since that winning stretch, losing back-to-back games against Kansas and TCU last week. Oklahoma State’s performance against the Horned Frogs was one of its worst of the season, as it lost by 25 points as a 6.5-point underdog.

The Cowboys’ defensive effort against TCU was shocking, as that has been its strength this season. They have not been a great offensive team, ranked No. 108 in KenPom’s adjusted efficiency ratings. Their turnover rate has been their biggest problem, as they are No. 321 in that statistic. Oklahoma State is also not shooting well from the perimeter, knocking down less than 33% of its attempts. It will be facing a West Virginia defense that is No. 56 in adjusted efficiency. Senior forward Kalib Boone leads the Cowboys with 12.1 points and 5.4 rebounds per game, while junior guard Bryce Thompson is scoring 11.7 points. They are continuing to play without third-leading scorer Avery Anderson, who has been sidelined for three weeks due to a wrist injury.
