Oklahoma State and Virginia Tech will square off at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn on Sunday afternoon as part of a nationally televised showcase that concludes with Tennessee vs. Maryland. The Cowboys bounced back from a loss at then-No. 8 UConn with a win over Sam Houston State on Tuesday. Virginia Tech has won nine of its first 10 games and is coming off a blowout win over Dayton on Wednesday.
Oklahoma State will be looking to add a quality non-conference win to its resume on Sunday. The Cowboys got off to a slow start this season, splitting their first four games, but they have won four of their five game since then. They were favored in all four of those victories, covering the spread in three of them. Oklahoma State’s loss during that stretch came against UConn on Dec. 1, as the Cowboys narrowly failed to cover the 9-point spread in a 74-64 final. They bounced back with a 65-51 win over Sam Houston State, as junior guard Bryce Thompson scored 17 points on 6 of 10 shooting.

The Cowboys will be hoping to rectify some of their offensive issues on Sunday. They have one of the worst turnover rates in the country (No. 299) and are converting on just 30.9% of their attempts from 3-point range. Oklahoma State’s strength on that end has been its offensive rebounding, as it is No. 13 nationally in that statistic. The Cowboys will have a slight height advantage on Sunday afternoon. Senior guard Avery Anderson III leads Oklahoma State with 12.6 points per game, while Thompson is adding 11.3 points. Junior forward Moussa Cisse has been a force in the paint, scoring 8.4 points and grabbing a team-high 10.8 rebounds.
