The Oklahoma City Thunder and the Washington Wizards duke it out at the Capital One Arena on Wednesday night.
The Oklahoma City Thunder have been in a slump as they’ve lost five of their past seven games overall and they will be hoping to bounce back after falling just short to the red-hot Celtics in a 126-122 road loss on Monday. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led the way with 37 points and eight assists on 13 of 26 shooting, Luguentz Dort added 21 points while Aleksej Pokusevski and Josh Giddey each scored 16 points. As a team, the Thunder shot 48 percent from the field and 11 of 30 from the 3-point line as they got off to a flyer and poured in 69 points in the first half to build a 15-point lead, but they couldn’t hold of the Celtics and eventually succumbed in the fourth quarter where they leaked 37 points to allow the Celtics to escape in the end.
Meanwhile, the Washington Wizards have been in great shape as they’ve won five of their past seven games overall and they will be eager to build on their four-game win streak after routing the Grizzlies in a 102-92 home win on Sunday. Kristaps Porzingis led the way with 25 points, Denii Avdija added 21 points with five assists while Corey Kispert chipped in with 12 points. As a team, the Wizards shot just 41 percent from the field and 19 of 40 from the 3-point line, but this win was about their defense as they held the Grizzlies to just 19 points in the first quarter and just 18 points in the fourth quarter. Rui Hachimura had a rough night as he scored just three points on one of seven shooting off the bench.
