Ohio U vs. Kent State Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 10-1-2022

This Saturday the (2-2) Ohio Bobcats and the (1-3) Kent State Golden Flashes will matchup in the fifth week of the 2022 college football season. Kickoff will be at 3:30 PM EST inside Dix Stadium. Both of these teams will be looking to heat up, as neither of them has started the 2022 season how they would have liked.

The Ohio Bobcats are coming into this one after taking down Fordham, 59-52. The Bobcat's offense looked to be rolling, as they continued to march up and down the field. Their defense struggled, though. They will have to tighten up if they want to get the job done on the road.

The Kent State Golden Flashes are entering this one after being dismantled by the University of Georgia. The Golden Flashes held their own for the majority of the game, though. They lost 39-22, as their defense will have to be better in this one if they want to defend their home field.

The Ohio Bobcats' offense looked spectacular in the fourth week of the season, as they scored 59 points. They will now be looking to keep that rolling against the Golden Flashes. Ohio is currently scoring 30 points per game and they are recording 416 total yards of offense. The Bobcats run a pass-heavy offense, as they have been slinging the rock around the yard. This is the 66th most yards in the country. They have also relied on the pass more than the run, as they are currently throwing for the 17th most passing yards per game with 313.8. Watch for Kurtis Rourke, as he looked great last week. He threw for 537 yards and four touchdowns and didn't turn the ball over once. James Bostic has been one of his favorite targets, as he has already recorded 257 yards and a touchdown this season. The Bobcats are als o running for 102.5 yards per game, which is the 115th most in the country. Ohio will look to get the ball to Sieh Bangura, as he leads the team with 167 yards and a touchdown. He is also averaging 4.4 yards per carry. The Bobcats will look to keep the Golden Flashes on their toes with their play-calling, as this is a balanced offense.

On defense, the Bobcats have been up and down this season, as they gave up a ton of yards to Fordham in week 4. They are currently surrendering 44.8 points per game and 538.3 yards per game. This is the 127th most points given up per game and the 130th most yards. They have struggled on the defensive side of the ball to begin the season. The Bobcat's secondary has also struggled, as they are allowing 376.3 passing yards per game, which is the most in the country. The Bobcats are also allowing 162 rushing yards per game, which is the 92nd most. They have been better against the run, a s their front seven has continued to rally towards the ball. I would watch for Ben Johnson, as the Junior safety leads the team with 29 tackles this season. He has been all over the field to begin the year.
