Ohio U vs. Iowa State Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 9-17-2022

This Saturday the (1-1) Ohio Bobcats and the (2-0) Iowa State Cyclones will face off in the third week of the 2022 college football season. Kick-off will be at 2:00 PM EST inside Jack Trice Stadium. Both of these teams will be looking to be better on offense, as they both struggled to score points in week 2.

The Ohio Bobcats are coming into this one after a tough game against Penn State. They fell 46-10, as they struggled to stop the Nittany Lions when they had the ball. Their secondary will need to show up for this game if they want to take down the Cyclones on the road.

The Iowa State Cyclones are entering this one after defeating the Iowa Hawkeyes, 10-7. The Cyclone's offense struggled, but their defense showed that they were no joke. They only allowed Iowa to record 150 total yards of offense.

The Ohio Bobcats looked solid in the first week of the 2022 college football season as they took down FAU, but they struggled last week against Penn State in week 2. According to ESPN.com, the Bobcats are scoring 25.5 points per game and they are averaging 370 total yards of offense per game. I would expect Kurtis Rourke to start at quarterback in this one, as he has already thrown for 464 yards and four touchdowns this season. Their offense is averaging 254.5 passing yards per game, as they have shown they can move the ball through the air. Last week, Rourke threw for 119 yards and no touchdowns, as he struggled against the Penn State defense. I would also watch for James Bostic, as the senior wide receiver has already recorded nine receptions for 167 yards and a touchdown. Ohio is also averaging 115.5 rushing yards per game, as their offensive line has looked solid. Last week, Sieh Bangura only ran for 25 yards and a touchdown, as the Nit tany Lions front seven dominated. As an offense, the Bobcats will look to move the ball through the air.

On defense, the Ohio Bobcats have had issues this season. They are currently allowing 42 points per game, as they have given up a ton of points in the first two weeks of the season. Yes, they won week 1, but they still gave up 38 points to FAU and 46 to Penn State. They are currently allowing 518 yards of total offense per game. They haven't created many turnovers and their secondary has struggled. The Bobcats are giving up 351 yards of offense through the air each week, as the Penn State offense lit them up in week 2. They gave up 338 yards through the air, as Penn State continued to take deep shots. This was a problem against FAU as well. Against the run, the Bobcats have been okay, as they are allowing 167 rush yards per game. Ohio gave up multiple rushing touchdowns in week 2, as they struggled to tackle in the open field. They gave up multiple big plays that ultimately killed them.
