Oakland Athletics vs. Cleveland Guardians Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 6-20-2023

The Oakland A's face the Cleveland Guardians with both teams hoping to rebound in the American League. The A's have a 19-55 record and with five losses in a row, they have the worst record in baseball. The Guardians have a 33-38 record and are in the middle of the American League Central Division. For the upcoming game, the A's will turn to Luis Medina as their starting pitcher who has allowed 12 runs in his last three starts while the Guardians will turn to Aaron Civale who has allowed only four runs in his last three starts.

The A's are having a historically bad season and just when things couldn't get worse, the team has started the process of relocation, making this year a miserable one for the fans in Oakland. Luis Medina will start the upcoming game and he hopes to rebound from an awful season as he's allowed 34 runs in 39.1 innings pitched. Moreover, with a .505 expected opponent Slugging Percentage, a 46.3 Hard-Hit Rate, and a 5.81 expected ERA, opponents are making hard contact and crushing the ball against Medina to easily drive in runs.

Along with Medina struggling, the lineup has been the worst in baseball, scoring only 3.54 runs per game with only 11 runs in the last five games. Brent Rooker is slashing .255/.356/.491 with 13 home runs and 106 total bases while Ryan Noda is slashing .245/.397/.422 with 86 total bases but the rest of the lineup has struggled. Only one batter has 10 home runs o r more and only two batter have an OPS+ over 100 and opposing pitchers can eliminate the hapless lineup as a result.
