Oakland Athletics vs. Baltimore Orioles Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 9-3-2022

The Oakland A's and the Baltimore Orioles continue their three-game weekend set in Baltimore on Saturday night. The A's come in with the worst record in the American League as they begin the long, drawn-out process of rebuilding the team's talent pool. Many expected this season to be another rebuilding year for the Orioles but the team finds itself right in the thick of the American League playoff race with a month to go in the regular season. The Oakland A's have not committed to a pitcher for Saturday although right-hander Adam Oller (2-6, 5.66) is likely to get the starting nod while the Orioles will turn to right-hander Austin Voth (4-2, 4.48). First pitch is scheduled for 7:05pm EST.

The Oakland A's continue on their brutal, season-long rebuild as the team tries to stay competitive despite dealing off countless assets in the past year, particularly on the pitching staff. Oakland comes into this series losers of two-straight games to the equally woeful Nationals but a respectable 4-6 in their last ten games. On Friday night, in the series opener at Camden Yards, the A's dropped a 5-2 decision to the Orioles.

In the midst of rebuilding a pitching staff that was once the clear-cut strength of the team, it has not helped the A's to have one of the worst offenses in baseball. Oakland is 29th in runs per game and 30th in team batting average leaving their pitching with little margin for error. The team is hitting just .214 in its last ten games scoring just 3.5 runs per game over that span. On the mound on Saturday will likely be right-hander Adam Oller, who hasn't pitched since last Saturday vs. the Yankees. In his last five starts, Oller is 1-2 with an ERA of 3.03 while allowing 24 hits in 29 innings of work. He is averaging just 3.6 K/9 in this span.
