Notre Dame has fallen out of the rankings after a 1-2 start. The Fighting Irish were ranked each of the past two years when these two teams played, and Notre Dame won each contest by 10 and 14 points as the small favorite. Now North Carolina is the slight favorite, and the Tar Heels have the superior offense after scoring 154 points in three games.
The Tar Heels also get the return of star WR Josh Downs this week, as he was injured in the opening game this season after scoring a pair of touchdowns. Downs was one of the nation's top receivers last season, catching 101 passes for 1,335 yards and 8 touchdowns.
