The Notre Dame Fighting Irish and Ohio State Buckeyes face off on Saturday in a Week 1 college football showdown at Ohio Stadium. This is the marquee game of the first week of the season, and the winner has a foot up on getting into the college football playoff team.
Gone for Notre Dame is Brian Kelly and in has stepped Marcus Freeman to try and lead the Fighting Irish back to the promised land. To end the season Notre Dame put up 35 points against Oklahoma State and they are going to need the offense to be strong again this season. Notre Dame has turned to Tyler Buchner who is only 19 years old and he is going to lead Notre Dame into a tough environment. Buchner played in 10 games last season throwing for 298 yards and three touchdowns. Tight end Michael Mayer might be the top in the league, and he is going to need to have a big game here. On defense, Notre Dame has a strong line, and they are going to need to win the trenches.
On the other side of this matchup is the Ohio State Buckeyes and they have dreams of winning the National title this season. Back for Ohio State this year is quarterback C.J. Stroud and he threw for 4,435 yards, 44 touchdowns, and six interceptions. Jaxon Smith-Njigba is back out wide and he caught 95 passes for 1,606 yards. The rest of the wide receivers are young, but there is no doubt Stroud will be slinging the ball all over the field. Running back Treyvon Henderson also had a strong year last year, and he might be the x-factor if they want to win this game.
