A pair of Horizon League rivals square off on the court Thursday when the Northern Kentucky Norse (17-12, 12-6 Horizon) visit Detroit and Calihan Hall to play the Detroit Mercy Titans (13-16, 9-9 Horizon). Northern Kentucky was defeated by the Cleveland State Vikings 64-63 on Sunday snapping a two-game winning streak for the Norse. Northern Kentucky trails first place in the Horizon League by 1 ½ games with just two games remaining in the regular season. Detroit Mercy won its third straight when defeating IUPUI 81-68 and the Titans have won five of the last six. Northern Kentucky and Detroit Mercy do not have any players listed on their respective injury lists

Northern Kentucky continues to have an outside shot at winning the Horizon league title thanks to a solid defense that is allowing an average of only 63.1 points (29th) per game. The Norse hold opponents to a field goal shooting percentage of 43.9% (197th) and a three-point shooting percentage of 37.0% (338th). The Norse are scoring an average of 67.4 point (287th) per game while shooting 42.9% (279th) overall and 34.2% (185th) from three point land. 

 

Marques Warrick is the leading scorer for Northern Kentucky with an average of 19.1 points per game, while shooting 44.6% overall and 38.4% from behind the three-point line. Sam Vinson is the second leading scorer with an average of 11.1 points per game but is shooting only 37.2% overall and 32.2% from downtown. Four of the top five scorers for Northern Kentucky shoot between 37.2% and 46.4%. Xavier Rhodes is the leader in assists with an average of 3.6 dishes per game. On the boards, Northern Kentucky averages 32.5 rebounds per game led by Chris Brandon with an average of 9.3 boards per contest. Vinson is the leader in steals with an average of 2.4 per game, while Imanuel Zorgvol is the leader in blocked shots with an average of 0.7 swats per contest.
