Northeastern vs. Hofstra Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 2-25-2023

Northeastern (10-18 SU, 6-11 CAA) travels to Long Island to take on Hofstra (22-8 SU, 15-2 CAA) in the final regular season matchup in the CAA on Saturday at 2pmET.

The Huskies lost the first matchup at home to Hofstra 72-53 as an 8-point dog.

Northeastern was crushed in their previous game on Thursday at Drexel 75-48. The Huskies have now lost seven of their last nine games and five straight on the road. Their last road win took place on Long Island against Stony Brook (79-66) on Jan. 19. But in Philadelphia, Northeastern was a no-show offensively as they shot 31.6% from the field and 29.4% from beyond the arc (5-of-17). Jahmyl Telfort led the Huskies with 18 points on 7-of-18 overall. Meanwhile, Drexel shot 55.8% from the field and outrebounded Northeastern by nine.

This has been another rough season for Bill Coen and company. The problem for the Huskies for the second straight season is the lack of a point guard. They rank 13th in the CAA in turnover margin (-4.29) and 12th in assist/turnover ratio. Northeastern ranks 3rd in rebounding margin (+3.21), 9th in three-point defense (34.7%), 5th in 3-point shooting (34%), 10th in field goal percentage (42%) and 10th in field goal defense (46.2%).

Telfort leads the Huskies in scoring with 16.5 points per game with 4.4 rebounds on 46.4% shooting (34.7% 3pt). He's the only player averaging in double figures in scoring.
