The North Carolina Tar Heels closed out their non-conference schedule on Friday night with a resounding 105-61 win over Charleston Southern at the Smith Center. The star of the show was RJ Davis. Davis finished the game with a double-double of 20 points and 10 assists and added five steals in the victory. It was the first time in his career that Davis had a double-double in points and assists and also marks the first time in the storied history of North Carolina basketball that a player finished with 20 poitns, 10 assists and five steals without a turnover in a single game.
“I'm lost for words a little bit,” said Davis when asked about his stellar stat line. “I know there's a lot of players that have come through this program, a lot of big-time players, and for me being the first to ever do it, this is truly a blessing. I'm honored, and I'm grateful.”
The Tar H eels come into this matchup with the nation's 14th-ranked scoring offense. The Heels are 67th in field goal percentage and 54th in three-point scoring. On the defensive end, the Heels are 193rd in defensive scoring this season. They are 97th in opponent's field goal percentage and 182nd in 3-point defense. The Heels are one of the better rebounding teams in the country, ranked 61st in total rebounding. The veteran Heels team is also strong with the basketball, ranked 37th in turnovers per game this season.
