A pair of power conference teams meet on the hardwood on a neutral floor when the ACC tangles with the Big Ten in the Big Apple. The North Carolina Tar Heels are the “road” team as they travel to face the #23 Ohio State Buckeyes Saturday afternoon. North Carolina comes in off a 100-67 home win over The Citadel in their most recent game Tuesday night, covering the 27-point line in the process. Ohio State slipped past Rutgers 67-66 at home in their previous contest December 8, failing to cover as a 5.5-point favorite. In the all-time series between the teams, the Tar Heels own a commanding 11-2 edge but it was Ohio State picking up a 74-49 win on the road in the most recent matchup on December 4, 2019.

North Carolina won their second straight after a four-game skid as they rolled past The Citadel at home in their previous game. The Tar Heels improved to 7-4 on the season and stand 1-1 in the ACC on the year heading into this game. Against The Citadel, North Carolina used a 22-8 run over the final 7:32 of the first half to turn a one-point edge into a 15-point bulge. The Tar Heels opened the second half on a 17-6 run to go up 65-39 and cruised the rest of the way to victory. North Carolina shot 49.2% from the field, hit 15 of 31 three-point attempts, and dominated the glass by a 47-31 margin. Caleb Love led the Tar Heels with 17 points and six assists in the victory.

For the year, the Tar Heels are 40th in the nation in scoring offense as they put up an average of 80.9 points per game on the season. North Carolina pulls down an average of 39.7 boards a contest while dishing out an averag e of 12.4 assists per night. The Tar Heels are below average on the defensive side of the ball, ranking 286th in scoring defense as they give up an average of 73.5 points per game.
