North Carolina at Duke Prediction – Basketball Picks 2/4/23

The North Carolina Tar Heels will head up Tobacco to the Duke Blue Devils in ACC Play from Cameron Indoor on ESPN. The Carolina-Duke rivalry is one of the best in all of sports, and last year’s three-piece in Coach K’s final season was extremely climatic. UNC leads the all-time series, 143-115.

North Carolina dropped to 15-7 after losing to Pittsburgh at home. The Tar Heels and Panthers traded leads throughout the contest, but Pitt would sneak away with the one-point victory.  UNC is scoring 78.5 points per game, while allowing 71.7 ppg, and shooting 44.8% from the floor.

North Carolina had their four-game winning streak snapped by Pitt, but they enter a very familiar high-profile situation here in Durham. The Tar Heels stung the Blue Devils twice last year in two of the biggest games of all-time. UNC is 7-4 in ACC play, with a  2-4 road record. Armando Bacot had a monster game against in-state foe N.C. State and he’ll look to replicate that here. The senior big leads UNC in scoring (17.7) and rebounding (11.4). Caleb Love and RJ Davis form one of the best backcourt duos in the country. Love scores 16.5 ppg, and he the Heels with 22 points against Pitt. Davis has been the team’s most consistent player outside of Bacot, and he’s averaging career-bests of 16.1 ppg and 5.0 rpg.
