Northern Illinois will travel to Ypsilanti to take on Eastern Michigan from Rynearson Stadium. NIU leads the all-time series 34-16, and they won last year’s meeting in DeKalb.
Northern Illinois is 1-5 after losing to Toledo in Week 6. THe Huskies were overwhelmed early, falling behind by 28 points at halftime, and dropped their fifth game in a row. NIU is averaging 31.7 points per game, while passing for 221.8 yards per game (165th) and rushing for 177.3 (81st). The Husky defense gives up 38.3 points per game, while allowing yards per game.
Ethan Hampton looked out of his element last weekend versus Toledo. The redshirt freshman tossed four interceptions, and he’ll have to cut down on those if NIU wants to shake this losing streak. Hampton has passed for 798 yards with seven touchdowns to six interceptions in four games. Sophomore back Harrison Waylee leads the team in rushing yards (472) after a big 232-yard performance versus Ball State. Cole Tucker has been Hampton’s number one guy, and he leads NIU in receptions (30) and receiving yards (476).
