Saturday’s matinee matchup features strong teams from each conference. Dallas tops the West, while Tampa Bay sits fifth place in the East. But don’t be fooled by the conference standings; these teams are just two points apart and relatively evenly matched. Looking at the league standings, Dallas and Tampa Bay are in fifth and sixth place, respectively. Their close positioning speaks to the level of play in each conference. This game will be a good indicator of whether or not the Stars are one of the league’s best or just the best in the West.

The Bruins return from a 10-day hiatus to host the Capitals on Saturday afternoon. The two teams met for their season openers in October when the Bruins won handily. But the Capitals have improved since then. Although their success this season has not been consistent, they are one of the better teams in the Eastern Conference. And if the season ended today, they would lock down a spot in the postseason. If the Capitals can keep up with the Bruins (or even defeat them), it could be a preview of the Conference playoffs looming down the road.
