After a wild Saturday, we have another great 8-game slate today. Once again, we're blessed with afternoon hockey, which was the best part of yesterday's action. The New York Rangers vs New Jersey Devils game was incredible as expected, but that overtime game was followed up by a shootout with the Eastern Conference-worst Columbus Blue Jackets beating the 2nd-best in the league, the Carolina Hurricanes. That just goes to show how difficult the NHL can be to predict. Even still, that won't stop us from breaking down today's games. Dallas Stars -1.5 & over 6.5 (+390) over Florida Panthers
The Stars have arguably been at their dimmest as of late. They just lost their last 2 games, with the most recent coming by way of a bad Anaheim Ducks team. However, there is no need to panic. They're still leading the Central Division and have the 2nd-most points in the Western Conference. Now they'll also be back in Dallas as well. Taking this play last season against the Panthers would be quite the risk, but they simply aren't looking like the former Presidents' Trophy winners.'
They were as low as the 2nd-worst team in the Atlantic Division this week, and are only 1 point removed from that spot currently. It's going to be a tough task to slow down a Stars team that is not only frustrated with their recent losses, but also back in Dallas. They're the 3rd-highest scoring team on home ice, averaging 3.83 goals per game. Until Florida proves they can keep up with teams in that department like they did last season, there's no reason to trust them on the road.
