There are a couple of notable recent trends in the first games following the NHL's holiday break.
Home teams went 11-5 and there was an average of 7.19 goals per game across the first three days following last year's holiday hiatus. Similarly, coming out of the 2019-20 layoff, home teams went 11-8 and there was a tidy average of 7.0 goals per game over the first two days back in action.
With that in mind, I'm expecting a few high-scoring games and for a couple home underdogs to show up on Tuesday.
