The Devils have a couple of players out of this game for injury reasons. Despite that, they look on paper to be the deeper, more talented overall team. This team is loaded and they will have a bit of a chip on their shoulder after a disappointing last season. After being one of the best teams in the NHL in 2022-23, the Devils finished as the 4th worst team in the Eastern Conference last season. They are out to prove that 2023-24 was a fluke.

Along with a talented team with something to prove, New Jersey will also debut their new head coach Sheldon Keefe who also is out to prove he can be winning head coach after several playoff exits at the helm in Toronto.
