With Week 9 in the books, there are a couple of major takeaways. Seattle and Miami both showed their true colors. Both teams are good but still have a ways to go to be contenders. They will continue to beat teams not in the top tier of the NFL, but each time they punch up in weight class, they fall short. Both still have upside. Miami’s defense should improve week over week now that they are healthy, but the offense continues to struggle any time their opponent can disrupt the offense's timing.
Seattle has a Geno Smith problem. Their defense is also improving, but without Smith playing like he did early in the season last year, this team is destined to finish second in the NFC West and have an early playoff exit. Health and consistency on the offensive line could help Smith out, but he is making way too many mistakes with the football right now for the Seahawks to have a deep playoff run.
