The New York Yankees (93-58, 66-83 RL, 72-73-4 O/U) battle the Toronto Blue Jays (86-67, 68-84 RL, 78-71-3 O/U) in the first of a three-game AL East series on Monday night. The Yankees will have Luis Severino on the hill. The Blue Jays will reply with Kevin Gausman, aiming for his third win of September. The Yankees lead the season series 9-7.

Severino has squandered eight runs in 14.2 innings against the Jays this season and is 6-3 with a 3.94 ERA in 75.1 career innings.

The Bronx Bombers are playing well after a bad slump last month. They have won eight out of their last ten games including series victories against the Brewers and Red Sox in that span. They feature an eight-game lead ahead of the Blue Jays atop the division and can clinch in this game.

Giancarlo Stanton is heating up at the plate whi ch is a good sign after a long slump. The 32-year-old slugger has two homers and six RBIs in his last five games and now has 28 homers with 75 RBIs and a .760 OPS on the year. Stanton has three homers and nine RBIs vs. the Blue Jays. DJ LeMahieu is questionable.

The Yankees are averaging 5.09 runs per game, good for second overall. The pitching staff is carrying a 3.38 team ERA, placing them third in the big leagues.
