New York Yankees vs. Texas Rangers Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 10-4-2022

New York will play the first game of a doubleheader at Texas on Tuesday afternoon. The Yankees got off to a strong start to the series with a win on Monday night, bouncing back after losing two out of three against Baltimore over the weekend. Texas is riding a six-game losing streak as its season is coming to a close.

New York has already clinched the American League East, but it is looking to generate some momentum heading into the playoffs. The Yankees had been red-hot over a three-week stretch, winning 13 out of 16 games. They are coming off their first series loss since mid-September though, dropping two out of three against Baltimore over the weekend. New York bounced back on Monday night, picking up a series-opening win in Texas. The Yankees are hoping slugger Aaron Judge can hit home run No. 62 on Tuesday, as he failed to do so on Monday. He was listed at -265 to hit the AL record-breaking homer during this series at DraftKings heading into that game.

Judge leads a New York offense that is No. 15 with a batting average of .242. They have hit an MLB-best 248 home runs this season, though. Right-handed pitcher Jameson Taillon is going to be on the mound for New York. He allowed two runs on seven hits across 7.1 innings against Toronto last Tuesday, striking out six without walking a batter. Taillon threw 62 of 94 pitches for strikes, posting his second consecutive quality start. He has thrown seven quality starts in 12 outings since the All-Star break, sporting a 3.69 ERA and 1.04 WHIP during that stretch. Taillon is 14-5 with a 3.84 ERA and 1.11 WHIP overall this season.
